What Is a Visiting Professorship Program?

A Visiting Professorship Program (VPP) is an opportunity for a medical institution to have a well-known thought leader spend a morning or afternoon engaged with your staff in an educational program that addresses strategies for managing patient therapy.

Activities may include a didactic lecture, case-based studies, round table discussions, hands-on demonstration workshop, proper patient selection, and/or discussion on pharmacoeconomic issues or current state-of-the-art treatments to improve outcomes. Up to 4 hours of educational activities may be scheduled.

Who can participate in a VPP?

These programs are intended for hospitals or institutions that are interested in providing education to their healthcare professionals in the areas of parenteral or enteral nutrition and/or pediatric rehydration.

What departments can take advantage of a VPP?

A VPP may be conducted with one or more of the following hospital departments

How do I schedule a VPP at my institution?

Please select the faculty and date for your VPP(s) and complete and submit the CME/CE Activity Request Form(s). Once received, The Academy for Continued Healthcare Learning (ACHL) staff will confirm the requested visiting professor?s availability, program date, and agenda. The ACHL staff will manage all meeting logistics including travel and honorarium, and will coordinate with the institution?s primary contact to confirm all on-site arrangements.

How do I schedule a VPP at my institution?

Approximately 30 days are required to fully execute a VPP. Due to faculty availability, the more lead time granted, the more likely we are to confirm your choice of visiting faculty.

How many CME/CE credits can I earn?

Various activities are offered for each topic. Each activity is accredited for at least 1 hour. Participants are able to earn up to 4 complimentary CME/CE credits by completing the provided enrollment and evaluation forms following participation in each activity.

Will food and beverages be included?

Yes. Depending on the time of day, breakfast, lunch, or coffee service can be arranged for participants.

Who will provide the funding?

All costs associated with the program are provided by The ACHL through an educational grant from Baxter Healthcare Corporation.
